Jonathan subsequently combined his SmartDisk experience with a lifetime trading habit to commence the next part of his career, as a derivatives trader. He spent the following nine years trading futures and developing black box trading systems. He is no stranger to middle of the night trading brainwaves and outlier market events.
Over the years, David has come to the firm conclusion that the only way to properly serve his clients is to intimately understand their businesses. To that end, David insists that his colleagues make an intense study of the technology and working practices of each and every one of his clients. This unique knowledge based approach has led to a significantly greater degree of placement accuracy than the industry benchmarks.
JONATHAN BLACK
Jonathan was the Managing Director of a NASDAQ quoted software company (SmartDisk now Verbatim). In this role he was exposed, on a daily basis, to the complexity inherent to the creation of new algorithms and software. A key skill carried forward from this role is an ability to intimately relate to quants and software developers. He knows what they can do, what they struggle to do and what they’d like to do.
